I’m back from my blogging hiatus and down time that was necessary for my continued good health. It was working on two books at the same time that did me in. Now I am back in Lamb’s Bay.
I had just started cleaning up the first draft of Death at Dune Road, Book 6 in The Lamb’s Bay Mysteries series, when Homicide at the Hotel, Book 7, demanded attention. I found myself tied to my computer, editing and cleaning up one book and then writing like a maniac on the other. I lost track of time, laundry, groceries and other essentials. It was a heck of a ride, but I don’t think I will do that again. I got too tired. The only positives are that I got two books done and I was so exhausted I slept like a baby at night.
I have been lazy, read a lot of books (mysteries of course), talked with friends and met with some family members. I enjoyed actually being able to see people in person after so many months of online and phone connections only.
Book 6, Death at Dune Road, is now with my final editors having gotten rave reactions from my beta readers (along with a few nitpicks which I have taken care of). I am awaiting my final editors’ reactions and comments but so far, they have told me they are enjoying the read. Phew, glad to hear it.
In Book 6, we pick up where we left off in Book 5, Dancing at Dove Lake. Hilly’s home on Dune Road was firebombed at the end of that book and requires repairs. What she didn’t expect to happen was the grisly discovery of human bones buried in her yard. Are they old bones, a recent homicide case or . . . what? If you want to find out, keep an eye open for my announcement about when the book goes live on amazon. It will be, as the others in the series, in both eBook and paperback format.
Meanwhile I have been working on the cover ideas for Books 6 and 7 and plotting Book 8.
I’ve been asked by a few people how many books will be in the series. I planned for 9. We’ll see if I go past that number. Book 6 will be out in early September and then I hope to get out Book 7 by the New Year. Meanwhile I need to get to work on Book 8, tentatively entitled Late at the Library.
Look for more news on future blogs, my page on Facebook and on Instagram for more news as books 6 and 7 are prepped for publishing. And perhaps a couple of teasers about Book 8.
Meanwhile, enjoy the rest of the summer. Fall will be here all too soon.
