It is January 2025. The new year brings a new start to my blogging which was cut short in September 2024 by an unfortunate accident. I had a bad fall and fractured my humerus – the upper arm bone, right near the shoulder joint, and it was not humorous at all. In fact, it was downright painful.
We can plan all we want to, but when the unexpected happens it can cause chaos. I went to drop a friend off at the bus terminal and on the way back to my car I tripped over a tree root. Yes, a tree root. My shoulder hit the edge of the sidewalk. You guessed it – full court press – police, firemen, firefighters and paramedics. I didn’t see much of what was going on as I was lying face down and every little move hurt like crazy.
On top of all that, I had left my phone at home. Luckily a bystander knew my nephew, contacted him and he got hold of my family. I am very grateful for that person’s kindness.
Despite the pain, my mind kept wandering to my latest book, Summers in the City, which I had just sent to my editor. In it, the main character has a bad fall and all I could think was “did I describe that properly?” After all, here I was in the middle of reality; time to take notes for my writing. And those thoughts kept my mind off the pain.
The upshot was that I spent six weeks in a sling, then began physiotherapy which I am still doing. I was stuck using my left arm, (I am a righty) and a few fingers on my right hand. But somehow, and I guess it was just plain stubbornness, I managed to do my editor’s corrections in November and got my book, Summers in the City, published on amazon.
All this to say, my blog is back. Watch for it. And watch out for tree roots – I have a healthy respect for them now. Also, please check out my new book, Summers in the City, the third book in the Bailey Summers Mysteries. You can find it on Kindle Unlimited, as an ebook and as a paperback. https://a.co/d/8WCPVFV Reviews are appreciated.
